ACT for Autism Australia specialises in supporting children under 16 years old with an ASD diagnosis (or pending assessment).

We pay above award rates to our staff and provide ongoing autism-specific training.

Support worker

Most of our support worker services are located NOR and help children in the home and the community.

ACT for Autism Australia support workers need to have, or be willing to get:

  • A Working With Children’s Check

  • A Police Clearance

  • Their own vehicle and full license

  • A First Aid Certificate

  • Availability for between 6 and 38 hours a week between 0600-2000.

  • Personal or professional experience working with children is desirable.

Therapist /

SENIOR THerapist

Therapists will have a qualification in psychology, education, speech pathology, exercise physiology, occupational therapy, behaviour analysis, counsellor, physiotherapist, art therapist, audiologist, developmental educator, music therapist, rehabilitation counsellor or social work.

Senior therapists will have a relevant qualification, experience, and the ability to design and manage therapy teams.

At ACT for Autism Australia we use evidence based practices to achieve capacity building outcomes for clients, and therapy must be child-centred, ethical and measurable.

therapy assistant

Therapy assistants need to have excellent engagement skills and experience in ‘reading’ children. They need to have lots of energy, patience and a commitment to communicating data so that programs can be adjusted quickly to optimise outcomes for the child.

Therapy assistants follow a program designed and supervised by a client’s key worker.

Therapy assistants need to be proficient users of ICT, good literacy skills, a professional attitude and be able to demonstrate a love of learning.

The role often suits those who have experience working with children with autism (e.g. an Education Assistant) who are looking for additional work, great rates of pay and to expand their skill set.
