Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization.

OUR GROUP ACTIVITY PHILOSOPHY

At ACT for Autism Australia we respond to and endorse the national commitment to reduce segregation in society. Mainstream providers sometimes struggle to create inclusive environments for neurotypical children and their neurodivergent peers.

Consequently, although we specialise in services for children with an autism diagnosis, we embrace all children in our group activities.

Our groups are low-demand, with a focus on children having a space in which they can relax outside of their usual safe places and acquire skills and build capacity through incidental learning.

As a provider, creating activity groups for all children allows us to embrace the innovation and inclusive practice that underpins progressive decision-making recommended for mainstream providers (NDIS price guide item number 09_008_0116_6_3).

For NDIS participants*, our group activities help to build independence through community participation (NDIS price guide item number 09_011_0125_6_3). As a provider our groups create opportunities to practice skills through the Development of Daily Living and Life Skills (NDIS price guide item number 09_009_0117_6_3).

Paying with NDIS Funds

*We are unable to accept payment from NDIS plans that are NDIA-managed. For self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants, please consult your LAC or contact the NDIS to discuss how the above capacity building item numbers may align with your NDIS goals, or whether there is any Core support funding that may be used instead.
