Rhiannon
Support Worker
About Me
Hello everyone, my name is Rhiannon and I am a current Social Work student at Curtin University. I'm 23 years old and have lived in Perth, Western Australia my entire life. I completed a Certificate III in Education Support within my last two years of high school and was lucky enough to work within a Pre-Primary and Year 1 classroom and after that I began my work within the support work industry.
What are some of my strengths and hobbies?
My strengths lie within my communication and empathy for others. I love getting to know people and am always ready to build strong relationships with those around me.
In my spare time I love to read and journal. Anything to keep my mind working and learning. I love doing puzzles and hiking with my partner, we live right near the hills so there is always a new place to check out. I also have a 14 year old little sister and I love to have sleepovers with her and we love to find new movies to watch together, play board games and go shopping. We are both Shrek fanatics. I've recently been getting more into cooking and have been trying out new recipes I find in cookbooks or online. I have 3 cats and love snuggling with them and finding new toys for them to chase around everywhere.
What do I enjoy learning about?
I enjoy learning more about people. Whether this be through psychology and the mind or reading biographies. I enjoy learning different perspectives that people have. I also really love learning new crafts and handy skills.
Why do I like supporting children with an autism diagnosis and their families?
I love and have loved for many years working alongside children. My younger sister started my passion for working with kids and from there I've always tried to be in a role that supports and nurtures children's growth. Within my experience as an Education Assistant, I was able to support a few children with an autism diagnosis and being there during goal achieving means the absolute most to me.
